About the Workshop

Social Presencing Theater is a method created by the Presencing Institute that enables individuals and groups to experience their current reality more clearly and to allow them to move into a saner, more compassionate future. This workshop provides basic training in applying embodiment practices and Social Presencing Theater in leadership and change work. It is designed for facilitators, activists, consultants, performing artists and anyone interested in creativity and social change.

Workshop participants practice basic movement forms in “The Art of Making a True Move,” to synchronize mind and body and to engage in co-creative processes with the “social body.” These invite participants to embody “presencing” as it relates to the change theory called Theory U. By using nonverbal practices to inquire into “stuck” situations in one’s personal and organizational life, surprising insights and possibilities arise.

Please Note

This workshop is open to everyone and no prior experience in Theory U or in movement are necessary. Participants may find it helpful to have some familiarity with the Theory U model. An introductory workshop on Theory U is available in Vienna, 23-24 September 2015. See http://www.limina.at/facilitating-change-with-theory-u/ More information about Theory U can be found on the website www.presencing.org.

Arawana Hayashi

Arawana’s pioneering work as a choreographer, performer and educator is deeply sourced in collaborative improvisation. She currently heads the creation of Social Presencing Theater (SPT) for the Presencing Institute. Working with Otto Scharmer and colleagues at the Presencing Institute, she brings her background in the arts, meditation and social justice to creating “social presencing” that makes visible both current reality and emerging future possibilities.
